Peshawar: The sport man cum politician Imran Khan , founding leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced the launching of the ‘Imran Khan Talent Hunt Programme’ in July which is expected to begin in the end of the following month. Former Pakistan team captain Imran Khan and the PTI Sports and Culture President Iftikhar Elahi of KP briefed that the programme is aimed at cultivating the sport activities in the provinces.
At the Peshawar Press Club the President said that we look forward to restoring the province’s peace and initiating healthy sport activities would be a step forward towards the cause. Iftikhar said that the PTI leader wants to inculcate sport activities among the youth, enabling them to rise to the national level gaming. Imran Khan wants to see the KP talented youth with the national players and for the purpose he would be training the enthusiastic individuals at the provincial level and guiding them under his supervision.
KP General Secretary Asif Orakzai however further elaborated that from Peshawar Sports Complex under-19 team would be selected who would be trained for next 3 weeks. The players will then have matches with those of the other provinces . The chosen players will then be sent to Tajikistan where the legend himself would train them.
The co-ordinator said that youth in Pakistan is cricket obsessed and Mr. Khan sees sport as tool against terrorism. We aim to highlight the talented people residing in the deprived parts of the country and our government in the provinces has taken an initiative to restore peace.
Imran Khan is the all round player who had served the Pakistani cricket team for around 22 years from the year 1971 to 1992. He holds pride of captaining the team in the 1992 World Cup when the Green shirts won the trophy in Australia.
